General Manager’s Remarks
We would like to welcome everyone back for another great year of curling.
We plan on starting the curling season on Monday October 17, 2011.
We have added software to our computer system tied into a new cash register system to help Susan and Howie out. In the next year or two we are looking to do renovations to our basement area both in the change rooms and washrooms.
We are in the middle of an application to the Trillium Foundation again and we will know by November whether we were successful for a grant. We have asked for $7,000 to replace our lightning on the ice with a more efficient system.
Our club is in great shape and it is because we continue to put dollars and time and effort into it. The Executive thanks all of you for contributing to this. We have slightly increased most of the membership fees this year to reflect higher
operating costs, mostly in the energy area.
Rich Veitch returns as President with Steve Rathwell as VP. We regret that Dennis Nuhn has stepped down from the Board of Directors and all of us thank him for the countless hours Dennis and Laurie put into the club. They will continue to help out in the Club and be active members. We are please to add Brent Jemmitt to the Board who will be overseeing Fund Raising.
Bruce Hahn has been signed up again to be our ice technician this season as well as looking after the cleaning of the club. Bruce did a great job on the ice last year and now with a full year under his belt he is looking forward to fine tuning as opposed to a complete overhaul on the ice. . Susan Scott is back as our Bar Manager and Howie Pruden is looking after finances and general management of the Club.
We will be asking all curlers that curl in a competition to register on line. Go to the OCA web site and follow the guidelines to register. Web site http://www.ontcurl.com/ and go to “enter a competition”.
We continue to update our web site and encourage you to use it for registration, news, scores and game times. The address is www.listowelcurlingclub.com and we would like your feedback on it. We are looking forward to an exciting year and we encourage all members to bring friends out and try our sport.
Curling Fees
All fees are payable by October 10 2011. If you are renting a locker, please add that amount from the registration form to your cheque.
Registrations forms are to be returned by October 10, 2011 along with full payment. You can pay be check, Visa, M/C, Amex or Debit. All forms will be picked up daily from the club and date stamped. It is the intention of the board to accommodate all curlers to the best of our ability. However, we cannot guarantee times and positions.
